He studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1908 to 1910 before moving to Paris, where he encountered Cubism and other currents within the European avant-garde.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe became known for portraits and narrative paintings filled with strong colours, stylised bodies and psychological tension.
