The cream background and fine engraved linework suit a study, library or quiet living room. For someone with Swedish or Finnish family roots, it offers a place to begin conversations about where a family comes from.

About the Original Map

The original title preserves historical Swedish spelling, including “ock” and “Norland”. The Royal Danish Library credits Georg Biurman and records the map as a coloured copper engraving, made in Stockholm in 1747. Its catalogue places this copy in Atlas Minor, volume 7, plate 61, and records an original size of 56 × 47 cm and an approximate scale of 1:2,500,000.

The northern portion is labelled “Norre Delen af Sverige”. Another inscription refers longitude to the observatory in Uppsala. These details make the print a record of historical mapmaking as well as a decorative object. Borders, names and geographical representation belong to the original map’s period. The original scale does not apply to every reproduction size.

Why Choose This Print?

Sweden and Finland in an eighteenth-century map composition

Decorative cartouche and separate northern map

A thoughtful gift for Swedish and Finnish heritage families

Seven sizes for small spaces and larger wall displays

Premium matte paper, 200 gsm, with a smooth, non-reflective finish

Product Details

Product

Historical map reproduction poster

Original title

Svea ock Göta Riken med Finland ock Norland

Creator

Georg Biurman

Date

1747

Place

Stockholm, Sweden

Original technique

Coloured copper engraving

Atlas reference

Atlas Minor, vol. 7, plate 61

Original dimensions

56 × 47 cm

Original scale

Approximately 1:2,500,000

Original language

Swedish

Paper

Premium matte paper, 200 gsm

Available Sizes

Centimetres

Approximate inches

15 × 20 cm

6 × 8″

30 × 40 cm

12 × 16″

40 × 50 cm

16 × 20″

50 × 70 cm

20 × 28″

60 × 80 cm

24 × 32″

70 × 100 cm

28 × 40″

75 × 100 cm

30 × 40″

Measurements refer to the poster.
